According to the principle of optimizing resource, strengthening characteristics and improving level, school of Logistics, SWJTU was founded in 2006 by integrating resources of related subjects in Southwest Jiaotong University and recruiting high-level innovative teachers. College of Logistics, SWJTU is one of the first China’s key universities among the national “211 Project” that has founded College of Logistics. There are 2 departments: Dept. of Logistics Engineering, Dept. of Logistics Management. There is 1 Ph.D. program, 1 master program, 1 engineering master program and 1 undergraduate major of Logistics Engineering. Besides, there are 4 institutes and 4 centers: Inst. of Logistics Engineering, Inst. of Logistics Optimization and Information, Inst. of Reverse Logistics, Inst. of Logistics Technology, Research Center of Logistics and Transportation Planning, Test Center of Chinese Logistics Certificate and International Certified Purchaser, Information Center and Logistics Experiment Center. School of Logistics has been a rather integrated and multi-hierarchical teaching and research system with more than 170 doctor and master students, over 190 undergraduates.
School of Logistics has a high-qualified, high-level and experienced faculty with 12 doctoral supervisors, 12 professors, 5 assistant professor, thereinto, the ratio of the teachers with doctor degree to the whole gets to 66.7%. In the recent years, the production of scientific research in School of Logistics is plentiful, the thesis that has been published by Chinese or overseas core periodical and significant international academic conference exceeds 170, the paper has been embodied by EI/SCI is over 30, moreover, the number of monograph and text such as Logistics System Planning, Contemporary Logistics and so on have been printed has get to 6. In addition, college of logistics takes charge and accomplishes more than 60 scientific research projects, which including national natural science fund, national social science fund, scientific research projects of Ministry of Railways, Sichuan Province and other provinces or cities, enterprise organizations, in the meanwhile, gains 12 national, provincial and departmental level encouragement. School of Logistics has formed own characters and strength in the fields of logistics system planning and design, logistics optimization and informationization, logistics technology and application, logistics economics and finance, reverse logistics theory and method, especially the research area of logistics system optimization, contemporary logistics industry development, urban logistics layout and planning has built up a good reputation at home and abroad.
On the basis of staff team construction, on the emphasis of the advance of teaching and scientific research, School of Logistics gives priority to subject and specialty construction and puts teaching and practice together through pith course construction, practice base construction, lab center construction, brand major construction, actively explores new model to train composite and applied style person with high ability level on logistics technology and management and fit social demand, creates favorable environment for scientific research, teaching and learning, as a result, encouraging the teacher and students to be frank and innovative, dare to meet challenge. School of Logistics initiatively set up teaching and practice innovation base. Up to now, our college has set nicer cooperation and communication system between college and the contemporary logistics enterprises in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Suzhou, Qingdao and other cities, jointly take the task of training logistics workers. In the latest 3 years, the students of our college has joined more than 50 scientific research, published over 100 thesis and achieved 90 encouragement. A large amount of graduates with innovative inspirit, steady base and excellent personal ability begin to take critical tasks on the station of logistics technology and management.
On the side of socialization running a school, School of LLogistics set adult education and network education major on logistics. At the same time, School of Logistics Southwest Jiaotong University is one of the test and certification center for national logistics and international certificated purchaser, is the only test center China Logistics and Purchase Union set in Sichuan province and take charge of the test and certification works about Chinese Logistics and International certificated Purchaser in Sichuan area.
School of Logistics has always been actively developing extensive cooperation and communication at home and aboard, trying hard to make the teaching quality and scientific level meet international logistics level. At present, School of Logistics has kept touch with Japanese Osaka Sangyo University, Japanese University of Toyama, Japan University, Japanese Institute of Logistics, National Logistics Park Association of German(DGG), Germany Bremen University, Germany Dortmund University, American University of Michigan, Germany Fraunhofer Institute of Material and Logistics, Amercian Council Supply Chain Management Professionals(CSCMP), Sweden Gotesborg University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Taiwan Soochow University, French Central Paris, Singapore Integrated Decision System Council Ltd.(IDSC), Germany Donnier Council and other universities and institute, our college expands extensive academic communication and cooperation. College of Logistics still develop abroad and embedded work in Chinese logistics field, some famous professors such as Zhang Jin, Ye Huaizhen, Xu Ling, Zhang Xueyan, Ma Zujun and so on take important position in Chinese significant logistics academic team, industry association, government professionals council and give consultation for logistics planning and development of logistics enterprises in Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Kunming, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Panzhihua, Deyang, Yibing, Luzhou … cities. At the same time, School of Logistics has invited numbers of famous Chinese and overseas scholars and enterprisers to be visiting professors and to held academic lecture termly in our university.
Just as burgeoning, fast-developing logistics industry, School of Logistics, SWJTU is full of energy, youthful spirit and upwards strength. The staff of School of Logistics
would make great efforts to build our college as Chinese one-class, international known college of logistics with own wisdom and make it become the Chinese high-level research and production transform base in logistics field, high-level innovative person training base and high-level decision, management and technology consultant base.
