In order to help you enjoy your life in Chengdu while study in Southwest Jiaotong University, we’ve made this important notice to help you understand the laws in China. We hope you can abide by and remind yourself of the following requirements:

1.           If you hold an X or L visa, please register at the International Affaires Office (therein after as IAO) within 10days, counting from the day of entering China.

2.           Have you already applied for Aliens’ Residence Permit at the Chengdu Public Security Bureau? Please have your permit number and expiration date registered at IAO after you obtaining the Aliens’ Residence Permit.

3.           Please pay special attention to the expiration date on your Aliens’ Residence Permit. If you plan to continue your study at Southwest Jiaotong University, you need to apply at the IAO 20 days before the expiration date in order to get your Aliens’ Residence Permit date extended at Aliens’ Exit and Entry Administration Office of Chengdu Public Security Bureau.

4.           If you fail to extend your Aliens’ Residence Permit date there is a penalty of paying fee.

5.           You can live off campus and rent an apartment within the residential areas of Chengdu, however when you move off campus, please apply to the IAO first and when register at the local Police Station.

6.           Have you moved and changed your address? If you do, please have your news address registered at the local Police Station within 10 days of moving into a new apartment.

7.           Have you renewed your passport? If you have done so for any reason, please have your new passport registered at Aliens’ Exit and Entry Administration Office of Chengdu Public Security Bureau within 10 days of your new passport’s activation.

8.           Do you wish to work part time? If you do, please apply and register at the IAO for the needed paperwork.

9.           Do you have a motorcycle? If you do, please apply for your driver’s license at the Traffic Management Office of Chengdu Public Security Bureau.

10.       Are you a transferring student from another university? If you are, please register at the Aliens’ Exit and Entry Administration Office of Chengdu Public Security Bureau after you registered at IAO. A certificate from your original university showing your termination with that university is needed to complete the transfer paperwork. This needs to be done within 10days of your registering at IAO.

   If you wish to transfer to other universities, please provide the Letter of Admission from your applied university and come to the IAO to obtain the transferring papers.
